Our Client-Centered Approach
Case Management
Case management is a fundamental part of every phase of addiction treatment, from medically monitored detox through inpatient rehab. Case managers fulfill a range of crucial services, ultimately serving as an advocate for each individual client as they help guide them through the recovery process. At Guardian Recovery we assign a licensed and highly experienced case manager to each client upon his or her admission. From the start of our medical detox program through discharge and the eventual transition into the next appropriate level of clinical care, case managers communicate effectively with the client and his or her loved ones, help develop treatment plans and plans for continuing care, and answer any and all questions that might crop up along the way.
The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors defines case management as “a range of services provided to assist and support individuals in developing their skills to gain access to needed medical, behavioral health, housing, employment, social, educational, and other services essential to meeting basic human services.” Because active addiction affects all aspects of life, from mental and emotional health to the development of lasting social issues, it is crucial that case management services are comprehensive and individualized. At Guardian Recovery we ensure that our case managers are heavily involved in the recovery journey of each client, and that all of their personal needs are being adequately and consistently met.

Advocating for The Needs of Each Client
The National Center for Biotechnology Information published an article titled, “Substance Abuse and Case Management: An Introduction,” in which the specific goals of case management services are carefully outlined. The article suggests that in addition to helping clients navigate the substance abuse recovery process itself, effective case management must focus on the following:
- Providing adequate mental health services for those with dual diagnosis disorders – It is estimated that up to 70 percent of all men and women in treatment for substance abuse have also suffered from clinical depression at one point during their lives. Case managers must ensure that clients have access to psychological care while they are in treatment for substance abuse.
- Making sure that all existing social problems are being resolved – Active addiction has a major negative impact on all areas of life. Many clients require social assistance, such as returning to school in order to obtain a diploma or GED, undergoing vocational training, and finding affordable and safe housing options.
- Helping clients work through pre-existing legal issues – It is estimated that criminal justice substance abuse clients make up nearly one half of all men and women in treatment for addiction. Case managers help clients work through legal options and provide eligible clients apply for government-funded programs designed to help get them back on their feet, including welfare, food stamps and Medicare.
At Guardian Recovery we tend to the needs and requirements of each individual client thoroughly. Our case management services begin the moment a client is admitted into our medical detox program and last all the way through aftercare.
Our Drug & Alcohol Detox Services Include
The Role of a Case Manager in Medical Detox
Case managers fill many roles, and carry out a variety of tasks geared towards providing clients with the most individualized and focus care possible.
The following tasks are performed by our licensed case managers:
- Case managers meet with the client on a regular basis just to check in and ensure that the client is comfortable and that all of his or her needs are being met.
- Case managers meet with the client to discuss future treatment plans and recovery goals, ultimately helping them develop a comprehensive aftercare plan.
- Case managers take care of filling out all necessary paperwork.
- Case managers regularly meet with our clinical and medical teams in order to adjust existing detox plans and go over the progress that is being made.
- Case managers advocate for the client and for their loved ones.
- Case managers serve as the main point of contact between the loved ones of each client and the clinical and medical teams – they keep loved ones informed of progress and of aftercare plans as they develop.
- If a client has any questions or concerns over the duration of his or her stay in medical detox, the case manager answers the questions and addresses the concerns.
The roles of the case manager vary depending on the unique needs of each client. For example, one client might require treatment for a co-occurring disorder, in which case the case manager pairs him or her up with one of our on-staff psychiatrists and ensures that the dual diagnosis disorder is being addressed. One client might be struggling with unresolved childhood trauma or with post-traumatic stress disorder, in which case the case manager pairs him or her up with a trauma-focused therapist. No matter what your specific needs may be, at Guardian Recovery we have you completely covered. Contact us today for more information on the numerous services that our case managers provide.

We consistently do everything in our power to ensure that our clients are set up for continued success in sobriety and that they are prepared for the remainder of their recovery journeys.

Our Comprehensive Case Management Services
At Guardian Recovery we remain dedicated to advocating for each client and his or her loved ones over the entire course of the early recovery process. We are also dedicated to making our comprehensive and individualized detox program as accessible as possible to those in need. The moment you or your loved one makes the decision to contact us we begin developing a viable plan of action. We begin by conducting a brief pre-assessment which helps our clinical and medical team determine which course of action is going to be the most beneficial for each unique case. Next, we help you and your loved one determine coverage. At Guardian Recovery we work with most major regional and national health insurance providers – however, there are additional options available including self-pay and private pay. Finally we set a date and a time for intake and arrange plans for safe and reliable transportation.
Comprehensive case management services are just one component of our fully integrated and medically monitored detox program. While we do prioritize a safe and pain-free withdrawal, we also work to prepare each of our clients for continued success in sobriety. To learn more or to begin your own personal journey of recovery – or to help your loved one begin the healing process – contact us today, we are available to help you 24/7.
